A Special Celebration - you're invited!!

Greetings, my friends!! Long time … no newsletter!!!

First, some quick catching up, then … a big announcement and a personal invitation to a really big celebration, so read on …

Wherever you are in the world, I hope that things are well and that you’re healthy and safe. I’m here in Carson City, NV, USA, and playing music ALL THE TIME.

Some of you have followed me for a long time, through the twists and turns of my liver transplant journey, then the pandemic shut down and my accompanying four-year weekly livestream. I’ve been largely out of the public view since then, thanks to a long-running residency at The Grand Lodge Casino at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, NV. I just celebrated my three-year anniversary of playing there, with my contract currently running through the end of September, 2025.

This gig has allowed me to continue to work very hard on my guitar playing techniques, and I’ve spent hundreds of hours refreshing the fingerstyle playing of the classical music I studied as a child. I’ve incorporated these styles into both my complete repertoire of cover tunes (well over 1,000 songs and always growing) and my original music as well. While I perform mostly cover tunes at my gigs, I’ve been working with a songwriting partner for the past year, and have been playing some local all-original singer/songwriter shows from time to time.

As for my health, things are really going well. So well, in fact, that I have a MAJOR MILESTONE rapidly approaching.

I received my liver transplant on June 2, 2015, so my 10th Liver-versary is almost here. I’ve beaten the odds so many times already, and this is another one, as transplant recipients have a 50/50 chance to survive for 10 years. I think I’m going to make it!!

So … you’re invited to the party, on the patio at The Tap Shack (a little neighborhood bar that I play at monthly) in Carson City, NV on Sunday, June 1, from 3:00-7:00pm.

The plans for the day are loose, but we’ll have a chance to laugh, celebrate, share some food, and of course there will be MUSIC!! I’m expecting people from far and near, and I really hope that you can make it.

We’ll fire up the barbecue on the patio, and I’m buying the makings for 100 cheeseburgers, plus there will be plenty of refreshments available, both with and without alcohol. I’ll have a small sound system set up, and have commitments from some dear friends and awesome musicians to show up. I don’t know how many friends will show, but the music is bound to be awesome.

Thanks for your friendship. I hope you can make it on June 1. I can’t wait to see you!!
